I am winding down my time here in clinic, preparing for a whole new adventure to begin... at some undisclosed time. Any day would be good really, little fetus. Any day. But back to today.
I got to see a certain baby in follow up today who decided, a mere 6 mos ago, to be born on a clinic exam table into my awaiting, trembling hands. Seeing his chubby self babbling and giggling away on that very same exam table was a lovely way to round out my time here. I much preferred his cheerful demeanor today to his floppy, blue, 4 lb self on that fateful day last November.
It has been quite the growing and learning experience here in community health center land. I'm grateful for the time I've spent here and for all the patients who embraced me as their new provider (sometimes literally and much to my dismay. I mean who really wants a bear hug from a patient with c diff colitis, right?) and shared aspects of their lives with me. It has certainly given me a lot to think and write about. I take it all with me as I venture to my next stop on the primary care road, and even more immediately, the thrilling and terrifying road to new parenthood. Yikes!
